Tour in Lifta
A special tour was organized to the displaced village of Lifta for a group of young adults, members of Generations for Peace. Among them was Asil Abu Leil, whose grandparents were displaced from Lifta. During the tour, participants witnessed how the people of Lifta used to live, using water from the well, farming the lands, raising livestock, and pressing olives. They also saw how traditional foods were prepared, visited the mosque, and observed prayer there. The participants expressed the importance of such tours and their content, which acquainted them with many aspects of life in Lifta, a village whose residents experienced displacement and eviction from their homes. After the tour, the participants headed to Sheikh Jarrah, where they attended a lecture about the neighborhood and its suffocating restrictions, including attempts to evict residents from their homes and the weekly protests against displacement policies.
