Tour in Tantura Village

GfP organized a special tour in the destroyed and ethnically-cleansed Palestinian village al-Tantura near Haifa. This village is one of over 500 Palestinian villages destroyed during the Nakba. Among all the buildings in the village, inhabited by around 1500 people in 1948, only one house and a mosque remain. Mrs. Jehan Sarhan spoke about her mother's story, who fled from the village of al-Tantura to the village of Al-Fureidis after the massacre. And the displacement of all the village residents to several different areas, she narrated to us all the difficult details that the residents experienced as she heard from her mother. She spoke about the ethnic cleansing that affected men, women, and children. We also listened to Mr. Omar Ghbaria from the Thakerat Foundation about all details related to the village's displacement and many stories and testimonies collected by the Thakerat Foundation, which focuses on gathering details about the Palestinian villages that were ethnically cleansed in 1948. many testimonies, photos, and documents are being documented as part of the Nakba, bearing witness to the personal and collective Palestinian story and memory. GfP conducts many activities related to historical narration to understand the details and testimonies related to the occupation and the collective displacement experienced by the Palestinian people.
